Statement

Compressed and informed by experiences in nature, my chromatic paintings are both elaborate studies and invented worlds. Each vibratory picture refers to solace of place - states of being and seeing. Using charged color and experiments in built, dimensional form, I mix and pour acrylic fields of pattern and light. The paint mixtures reference geology, meditation and fleeting events-such as bicycling through the woods to a chorus of songbirds or the euphoria of golden light at sunset. These paintings are an active dialog with the natural world using plants, patterns and forms as messengers and companions that explore new understandings of ourselves and the phenomena of the universe.
